I'm in a bit of project limbo right now, yes I have a couple of things on the needles, but really all a bit socky, and I think I need something with a bit more Oomph, especially with nights looming at the end of next week.
At present, works in progress comprise:
1. Mata Hari Socks - I'm loving everything about this sock; the colours the yarn, the pattern, everything. The speed of knitting may leave a bit to be desired though.

2. Expression scarf - a vast rectangle of garter stitch. I know it'll be fab when I get there, and I will wear it to death, but I'm bored at the minute.
3.Odessa - least said about this one the better I'm afraid. I took it off the needles to do the mitts, and I don't think it will go straight back on. Soon but not straight away, I think - this is hereby relegated to the back burner.
4. Lichen rib socks - one down and one to go. I know I had my doubts about the construction, butnow I have one at a try-on-able proportions I love it. The star toe the stripeyness, even the Welsh heel looks good on. I still think it was a little b*gger to knit though, and if I knit it again (other than the left foot of these which will have to be the same obviously) I'll just use a nice modern stitch marker rather than a seam stitch, cos I find it a bit odd.

So I went to one of the LYSs this morning. I was thinking maybe something green for a mason dixon esq blanket, but nothing inspired, or even a go at their after dark nightie, which I love in the book, but...
NOT IN WOOL
I believe I'm actually suffering for living where there are so many sheep! I wanted cotton, or linen yarn, and all I could see was wool. Feeling uninspired, I. Left. Empty. Handed. and got on with the rest of my groceries, where I started to wonder about felting. From that moment on, no friendly WOOL was to be seen, on closer inspection everything turned out to be superwash, or frankly bizarre novelty yarns which I just can't come up with a purpose for. I did see some gorgeous recycled sari silk yarn, but it was so horrendously expensive I couldn't afford enough to make anything interesting anyway.
I'll try the other LYSs in easy distance tomorrow.

The mitts look great! I know the feeling of sad LYS. Fortunately, the one here in St Andrews (Canada) is GLORIOUS and I had to leave the store today before I began drooling on the merchandise.
OOOH! Taking the odessa off the needles?! Brave!
I botched mine up too, and I thought I could rip it back to the mistake, but that pattern is not at all forgiving.
Stick to socks, they always look fab!
